New Beginnings

We are in the New Year, 2019! I love new beginnings, its a chance to do things right and start out fresh. That's why so many people make resolutions at the start of the year. As we go into this New Year, I am reminded of the past year and the highs & lows we faced. From daring rescues to a tragic school shooting, to fairy tale weddings to deaths of political leaders; this past year has really seen some high and low times. I also remember some of my past mistakes this past year, somethings I should have said or done, even sins I committed. However, I am reminded of 2 Corinthians 5:17:

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

I believe 2019 should be a year for us to "Rediscover our Lord." Just like items we put away and forget about, we have a tendency to put Jesus away in our life and only bring Him out when there is a problem. We should rediscover why He is so important and great in our life. Jeremiah 29:13 says "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." In the words of the late Adrian Rogers, "We need to quit treating the Bible as a math book and start treating it as a love story." When we rediscover Jesus, we won't see laws, we'll see love!

This is the year for us to "Rededicate our life" to God. I love what David says in Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." We all have sinned and done wrong, but that doesn't mean we have to remain that way! In fact, the Bible teaches us that God is willing to forgive us from all transgressions. "A-L-L" transgressions.

So, what do we need to do? It's simple, "Recommit our Love." Jesus told us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. The problem is, we love to much other stuff. We need to examine where our love is going. Is it going to things of the world? If so, then we need to start investing in Jesus! Give of yourself, give your time, talent and treasures to God and you will find that new creature that we read about in 2 Corinthians!

Take care and have a Blessed Year!
